No nonsense First Lady of Kenya

I think kenya needs more people like the first lady of Kenya who says as she sees and is not afraid to act.
According to "mama"(Mrs Lucy Kibaki), the state house is a Museum that needs updating.

If you dont think so i would not tell her on the face, you might just get slapped.
"Kenya's first lady slapped a government official during an Independence Day celebration(2007). Lucy Kibaki was reported to have been incensed when the official acting as master of ceremony introduced her as "Wambui". Mary Wambui is a woman many Kenyans believe has been Kibaki's second wife for 30 years, despite repeated denials from State House. "President Kibaki, the Vice-President Moody Awori, several cabinet ministers and members of the diplomatic corps watched in dismay as the drama unfolded," the Standard newspaper said."
This is not the first time she has slapped someone in public;
"In 2005 when cameraman Clifford Derrick accused her of slapping him when she stormed into a newsroom to protest her treatment by the media(Lucy had warned Derrick to stop filming her). Derrick sued her for assault, but the case was later thrown out of court." The worst part is that The Standard newspaper wrote a story on her, which she didn't like, and she showed up at The nation newspaper Headquarters protesting.
The story she was complaining about was of a scene she had caused at a late night farewell party held by Diop, who had rented the house from the Kibakis. Lucy Kibaki complained the music was too loud with the band's speakers positioned near her fence. She reportedly insulted Diop by shouting insults, and that Diop had to be restrained from retaliating.
"In 2004, she publicly upbraided Vice-President Awori for referring to her in a speech as the "second lady". Although Awori apologised, neither he nor Kibaki could mollify her."
"In May 2006, she created more controversy by stating that young people in Kenya had "no business" using condoms. Lucy Kibaki called on students at a school prize-giving to abstain from sex in order to avoid infection with HIV. She chairs the Organisation of the 40 African First Ladies Against HIV/Aids."
Kenya first lady is like no other, Shes one in a million, what do you think?

Wal-Mart pulls “McLovin” License

Did you see the movie "SuperBad" well it has sparked a new wave of controversy

Wal-Mart Pulls Superbad DVD Featuring Fake Hawaii “McLovin” License in hawai
Walmart has pulled copies of the Superbad DVD that contained a promotional “McLovin” Hawaii license after Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann objected to the item. The “license” appears to be made with a lenticular lens, and when viewed at different angles shows either Fogell or his ever-sexy alter-ego, “McLovin.”

“We’re very pleased that Wal-Mart has taken prompt, corrective measures to comply with the City’s request to protect the integrity of our driver’s license. It was foolish of the movie studio to include this prop in the DVD, particularly because it could be used by unscrupulous people to deceive others who are unfamiliar with our driver’s license. For example, those who saw ‘Superbad’ know the underage teenager used his fake Hawaii license to buy liquor,” Mayor Hannemann said in a statement.

Our first instinct was to say that no one would ever be stupid enough to try to pass a lenticular “McLovin” ID as real, but then we remembered that there is currently an epidemic of idiots trying to pass fake million dollar bills at stores and banks all over the country, and reconsidered our position.

Wonder who is Mclovin? click Here
That was a good waste of time because you just have to search google for a ‘mclovin id’ and you will get sites willing to customize your own id

Amazons Kindle

Have you seen the Amazons new Kindle? Kindle is an electronic book (e-book) service. It uses an electronic paper display, reads the proprietary Kindle (AZW) format, and downloads content over Amazon Whispernet(without any fee), meaning it can be used without the need for a computer. .

The Kindle can hold up to 200 non-illustrated titles, also supports audio in the form of MP3s and Audible audiobooks, which must be transferred to the Kindle over USB or on an SD card.
You can even use other format, Amazon offers an email-based service that will convert HTML, DOC (Microsoft Word), JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP documents to AZW.

It seams like a very cool device and i am sure organizations like the Green movement are loving it, but can technology replace the hard paper books?

What do you think, is this the future?

December

Guess what we are in December the last month of the year, 30 more days and the year 2007 is no more.

Remember all the New Year resolutions you made at the beginning of the year, well, did they all come true? If they did, “you are the Man or Woman”. If they didn’t, you still have time and some of them can still be accomplished.

What can’t be attained forget about it, what’s gone is gone, start planning for the future. 2008 is coming, think what you’re new years resolutions will be. Compared them to the ones you had for 2007 and set what is attainable.

Be like the guy in this movie clip, even if a car hits you stand up and make the best of it.

Cyber Monday

If you didn't shop enough over the weekend, or you purposely avoided the have another chanmobbed malls, youce to save on holiday gifts on Monday.

Nearly 75 percent of online retailers will offer special promotions on the Monday after Thanksgiving, up from 43 percent two years ago, according to a survey from the National Retail Federation, which in 2005 dubbed the day Cyber Monday after online retailers noticed that Web site traffic spiked that day.

This year's promotions will include e-mail campaigns with special deals to current customers, as well as one-day savings on particular products. Nearly 25 percent of retailers will provide free shipping on all purchases with no conditions attached.

Where to Start
You may be wondering, where do I start in this big jungle called “the internet”. Cybermonday.com features deals from nearly 500 stores, you can narrow down the list of retailers based on specific wants such as free shopping or gift cards.
Shopadidas.com plans to offer customers 25 percent off.
JoAnn.com, the online crafts store, will cover shipping for all purchases, as well as returns.
Ice.com, a jewelry merchant, will save 20% on many items and pay no shipping.

Precautions.

  • Even with these deals, remember to comparison shop at sites like Shopzilla.com and Shopping.com before you buy. Also, scour the fine print for the return policy. Can you return or exchange an item at their store? If you must mail returns, who pays for the shipping? Will you receive a store credit or a refund?
  • Also be sure to shop on secure Web sites that use encryption technology, which will scramble your personal information so hackers cannot access it.
  • Never buy from a Web site that does not include a physical address and phone number.
  • Finally, use a credit card when shopping online. It is the safest method of payment. Legally you are responsible for only $50 of unauthorized charges, and you can withhold payments if you are disputing a charge.

Be sure to record every purchase and the price. Otherwise you may be blindsided by the dollar figure on the credit card bill come January, Otherwise Happy Cyber Monday Shopping

Black Friday

Well another holiday shopping season is approaching and as a tradition you are obligated to buy gifts for your loved ones. One of the best days to find good deals, is Black Friday, well, what is it?

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season in the United States. Since Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November, Black Friday may be as early as the 23rd and as late as the 29th day of November. Retailers often decorate for the Christmas season weeks beforehand. Many retailers open very early (typically 5 A.M.) and offer doorbuster deals and loss leaders to draw people to their stores. Although Black Friday, as the first shopping day after Thanksgiving, has served as the unofficial beginning of the Christmas season at least since the start of the modern Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the term "Black Friday" has been traced back only to the 1970s. "Black Friday" was originally so named because of the heavy traffic on that day, although most contemporary uses of the term focus instead on the theory that retailers traditionally operated at a financial loss for most of the year (January through November) and made their profit during the holiday season. When this would be recorded in the financial records, once-common accounting practices would use red ink to show negative amounts and black ink to show positive amounts. Black Friday, under this theory, is the beginning of the period where retailers would no longer have losses (the red) and instead take in the year's profits (the black). (Retailers' profitability varies, but some retailers are indeed dependent on the holiday season for their profits.). Whatever theory is true, you can get very good deals.

The links below highlights advanced look at some Black Friday Newspapers ads, you don’t have to wait until thanksgiving week to see the sales, enjoy.

Safaricom chief wants IPO held next year

Safaricom Limited wants the Government to postpone the sale of its stake at the mobile company until the General Election is concluded.

The mobile firm says that the initial public offer (IPO) was being affected by the political shenanigans between the Government and ODM, a political party led by former Cabinet minister Mr Raila Odinga.

Speaking for the first time about the political heat that the firm’s IPO has raised, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Michael Joseph, said the deal should be postponed "to avoid the company being used as a political game-ball by politicians".

Wine

Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermentation of unmodified grape juice. The natural chemical balance of grapes is such that they ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes or other nutrients. Although other fruits like apples and berries can also be fermented, the resultant "wines" are normally named after the fruit from which they are produced (for example, apple wine or elderberry wine) and are generically known as fruit or country wine. Others, such as barley wine and rice wine (e.g. sake), are made from starch-based materials and resemble beer more than wine, while ginger wine is fortified with brandy. In these cases, the use of the term "wine" is a reference to the higher alcohol content, rather than production process. The commercial use of the English word "wine" (and its equivalent in other languages) is protected by law in many jurisdictions. Wine is produced by fermenting crushed grapes using various types of yeast which consume the sugars found in the grapes and convert them into alcohol. Various varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts are used depending on the types of wine produced.
